Kitty Door

I don't know about other people kids but my one year old eats kitty food any time she can get her hands on it. Gross. She also eats dog food but prefers the cat food. Obviously the water bowl is always a temptation as well, and while she hasn't discovered the litterbox, this isn't something I want her to discover. Enter the kitty door.
In our last home we added this feature when we remodeled our basement. My husband simply cut into the sheet rock and added an entrance that our cat could fit through. This way the kitty food, water, AND litterbox are not accessible to the kiddos and we can leave the laundry room door shut, but the cats still have access. Genius I tell you, genius.
When we moved, we had the food and water and litterbox in our upstairs half bath that is rarely used. It was a pain trying to keep the cats fed and the little ones out. It lasted while we finished the basement and I'm glad it's now done.
This is our new kitty door. It goes into our water heater closet where the cat necessities are. Away from our one year old, as well as our dog. It's clean, out of sight, and the animals have their own little peace and quiet. Plus I think it's genius.

Paper Garland- Girls Room

It took a ridiculous amount of time for me to post this garland because I had to clean the mirror before I could snap pictures. Yep, that's life.
I decided to whip up a paper garland for my daughters room and it was super easy. I found some scrapbook paper that I loved, and used a paper punch to cut out perfect circles. Then I proceeded to send them through my sewing machine one at a time, and within 10 minutes, ta da! I was done. So easy and such a great way to add color to any room. It's also a great way to decorate an awkward space, like above this mirror.
The wall color is a faint purple with an undertone of gray. It's called "In Bloom" from Joanna Gaines paint line at Ace. I never thought I'd allow purple onto my walls, but here I am. I kind of even like it.

Tiny Bathroom Makeover

Once again, this bathroom was orange when we bought the home. It was so dark, closed in, and not my taste at all. (This little bathroom is off of our laundry room, and it doesn't see a whole lot of use.) It is HARD to take pictures in such a small space. A simple coat of Alabaster white (matched at Home Depot), Storm Chaser blue from Joanna Gaines paint line for the cupboards, my famous easy go to shelving, and TA DA. It's like a breath of fresh air.

Decor on the shelf includes an old ammo box lid, a wire basket we got from Travis' 101 year old Grandpa when he passed away, a jar of marbles also from Grandpa, a lantern from Travis' Grandma's home after she passed, and sticks that were in my wedding bouquet. The decor holds many memories.

Eventually the counters will get replaced, but until then, they are still 90's blue.
