Laundry Room Makeover

This was our laundry room when we bought the house.

It was a tangerine orange color, and while I love tangerines, it just wasn't the right shade for my walls. It's a pretty small laundry room and it needed a good ole face lift. I painted it over a month ago but I was waiting on my sweet hubby to have some time to help me finish odd's and ends. It's finally done.

Ta da! Look how much brighter and more open the space is.
I painted the cupboards the same color as my kitchen island, Storm Chaser from Joanna Gaines paint line at Ace. It really made a difference.

My laundry hanger is my favorite part. We had a piece of metal gate left over from my pot and pan hanger, and I knew just what I wanted to do with it. It's my easily accessible laundry rack for things that don't go in the dryer. (Why do I buy clothes that can't be dried?) I added cute wooden hangers, didn't paint the gate and left it in all it's rusty glory, and was so excited to see it hung.

I also removed the blinds that were on the window, and added some very simple curtains. In true lazy style, I didn't hem the curtains I just sewed the rod pocket and left the rest raw.

I added a simple wooden shelf above the sink for my cleaners, shout spot cleaner, dryer sheets, etc. I thought about putting my laundry detergent up there but I'm all about ease and functionality and I don't like reaching up to try to scoop out the detergent.

The room is so much brighter and way more eye catching. Next up, the bathroom off of the laundry room.

Nursery

My house has many loose ends currently, and many projects half done. Here's part of baby girls nursery. We have our fabulous baby crib that my husband built about 9 years ago. I love the fabric garland above the crib because I'm always paranoid to hang things about the baby crib. If this falls or she pulls it down at least it won't hurt her.
Pom pom balls are one of the easiest crafts to make AND you can customize them to add the perfect pop of color to any room.

Thanks to Target for the curtains. I saw them and I had to have them.

String Art for Boys Room

We are not a sports family. We haven't ever watched a game of anything on TV. I grew up playing soccer, dancing, and for a while I was in gymnastics, but my husband didn't play anything. He had a four wheeler, the hills behind his home, and he lived in the desert. My oldest son doesn't play sports either and is just like his dad. He loves to be outside hiking, camping, four wheeling, exploring, and playing the guitar.
I had to get a bit creative when decorating his room. One of the things he loves is trucks. He can't wait until he can drive and he asks questions constantly about traffic laws, driving heavy equipment, and anything related.
String art has been popular and I decided to make him a string art stop sign. I had my husband cut out the octagon in a piece of plywood we already had. Then we nailed the border in roughly an inch apart (no measuring, we guessed). I printed off STOP and cut it out to trace onto my sign. Then I popped in a movie and began stringing. It's not nearly as bad as it looks. Take not that after ten minutes or so of stringing, I tied a knot and began another string. This is only because I was terrified that if it popped off an began to unravel that it'd be a huge mess. I was taking extra precaution.
This thing is big, about two feet in diameter.
